I had so many big plans to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. I mean, come on, I think staying married for a full decade deserves a little celebration! Ten years really does feel like an achievement, and I couldn’t be more proud of Kyle and I. The past ten years flew by way too fast, and I can honestly say I’m even more in love with my husband now than I ever was — and not to mention the entirely new love I felt for him after having our two children.
Time really does fly by when you’re having fun, and that’s exactly what our relationship has been all about.
Ten Years and Counting
Sure we have our ups and downs like every marriage, but that’s nothing compared to our lack of sleep the last three years since having kids or experiencing Mastitis twice OR the best part… getting baby poop under your fingernails!
So what did we do for our ten year anniversary, you ask? Well, we packed up the kids and all went to Palm Springs as a family. While it was nice to get away on a much needed “staycation”, it was definitely a different experience staying at a hotel we used to go to in our “pre-kid” days.
Sure, we were asked to move from the cool, adult pool, to the kiddy pool area, but we still had fun. We couldn’t help but laugh when we had to ask to move rooms, since the party spot hotel room seemed to be located directly above ours. Man, before kids we would have been right up there with the best of em…heck, it probably would have been our party!
Overall, it was still great to escape for a little bit and celebrate our love for each other, even if we were still on mom and dad duty. It’s so important to remember to connect as husband and wife, especially when you have children. It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day and focus all of your time, energy, and love on your children, but we can’t forget where it all started and how we got to this point. The love we have for each other is the glue that holds our family together, and that’s what will get us through the next decade of marriage together.
