Sleepless Mom

A blog for moms

It Takes a Village

I am not a perfectionist by any means, I do, however, pride myself on being a good mother and being there for my children. A perfect mother probably would not completely forget her child at school right!? Yes, that was me a few weeks ago.

It Takes A Village To Raise A Child

It Takes a Village

I’ll paint you a picture of my day (most days): My 11 year old fending for herself and trying to help her frenzied mother get through the morning rush with a 4 and 2 year old. Breakfast plates left on the table, lunches packed, diaper changed, backpacks checked, quickly put on my makeup, do my hair…oh wait, messy bun it is for the third day in a row! My clothes are put on approximately 3 minuets before running out the door, and off we go, always running late. I then have to run back inside to change another diaper. I swear that kid waits to poop until the moment when we are ready to leave!

That is just an overview of an always overwhelming morning. During one of these mornings, my 11 year old daughter reaches out and says, “Mom, I need you to sign this for me. ” Yeah, for sure, taking a moment to check what THAT is. Oh, how nice, my beautiful daughter wanted to stay after school for an extra credit assignment. No problem, I’ll get you after work. There is no way that would be a problem.

Long story short, I was slammed at work, tired, and crabby. I finally pulled into the driveway (vino waiting for me), and got a call from a friend letting me know she has my daughter. My daughter who is bawling and hysterical, because I forgot about her! Head slams on the steering wheel. Mom fail. Mom failing bad! Not only did I forget my child, but I’m completely embarrassed that a “winning” mom had to step up where I failed!

We all recovered just fine, and I realized there is real truth behind the saying “it takes a village to raise a child.” I also started using that “reminder” thing on my phone more often!

Love that technology, helping this sleepless mom get through the day.

About Jessica

Jessica Sleepless Mom Welcome sleepless moms! I haven’t had a full nights rest in over 2 years. Why, you ask? Because like you, juggling a toddler and a baby, working, and finding time for myself has left me sleepless, yet full of joy.

The inspiration for my blog came from tirelessly searching online for the answers new moms have, just to find out there is no right answer. My hope and vision is to create a community for moms to comment and share real life stories with one another when Google just isn’t cutting it. Whether you have specific questions or just want to comment and relate, this is your space to ask your fellow moms advice and know you’re not the only one that screws up from time to time.

I have assembled a well-rounded team that’s here to share their struggles and successes with you, as well as offer support in any way possible. This is an interactive site and we are here to cater to your mom needs. Please feel free to contact our team members with new topics you want us to tackle or even simple questions about motherhood. That’s what we are here for….
