The minute you get pregnant, you’ll notice everyone starts giving you advice.
Advice on what to eat, what not to eat, and everything in between.
As if it wasn’t overwhelming enough, you now have complete strangers telling you exactly how to raise your unborn child.
I personally felt more overwhelmed by the unsolicited advice I was receiving than the stresses of being a first time mom.
I got to the point where I absolutely hated being pregnant. I didn’t like the way people told me everything I was doing was wrong and what I should be doing.
Pregnancy should be a time where you feel like the most empowered version of yourself. You are growing another human being, after all.
With my next pregnancy, I will fully embrace being pregnant and being able to drown out the unwanted advice. I will be confident in my decisions, and realize that my pregnancy is my own.
I will try and think of it as a way of connecting with other mothers on our journey of motherhood. With everything in life, you have to chose what works for you. Especially when it comes to your most important role in life — motherhood.
