Sleepless Mom

A blog for moms

March 26, 2021

SO LONG “Quarantine 15”!!!

This working mama needs to get rid of these unwanted lbs that I graciously gained in the last year. This is a something I’m sharing with my readers because summer is right around the corner and I’m going to be brutally honest…the thought of a swimsuit makes me cringe!

Quarantine was rough!!! Like a lot of other working parents, I wear a lot of hats and I was not prepared to homeschool my kids, clean my house, and do all the laundry on top of tending to the four businesses I’m running or involved in. Needless to say, I felt like I had to take care of everyone but myself and when it came to our diet…it was kind of anything goes.

My struggle with eating healthy has always been real. There are so many fad diets and so many companies trying to sell weight loss, it’s hard to know who to trust. At this point in my life, I don’t just want to lose a few pounds, I want to be healthy physically, mentally and emotionally. And most of all, I want my family to learn how to develop a healthy relationship with real food that makes us all feel good, not just look good.

As much as I wanted to adopt a new & improved healthy food lifestyle, read all the books and do all the meal prep, I simply couldn’t find the time. More than that, I didn’t know who to trust. Thankfully, I live in a community where women support other women, and I was led to another “Mom Founded” business called PlateTherapy.com to help me on my journey.

Plate Therapy boxes with hands unpacking.

Plate Therapy’s founder, Danielle McPartlin went through the same weight struggle after having two kids. She also has autoimmune conditions that forced her to rethink her diet and how different types of food can affect the body. This journey led her to start Plate Therapy as a way to help others use “food as medicine” to heal the body from the inside out.

Plate Therapy is honestly the answer to my prayers. Danielle is from Illinois and likes to call her style of cooking “Comfort food made healthy” which is exactly what I needed to get my family on board, especially Kyle with his Midwest roots. The entire menu is gluten-free, dairy-free, no refined sugars and free of preservatives. Danielle’s team does all the shopping, cooking and calorie counting and I’m most excited about their “Macro Meal Plans”. My specific plan is built with three meals each day and snacks that are delivered to my doorstep twice per week.

I can’t recommend PlateTherapy.com enough!!! Not only will I be ready for summer, now I’m ready for life with a whole new relationship with food.

Plate Therapy delivers to select areas in the greater Los Angeles area. Also available for free pick-up in Santa Clarita.

About Jessica

Jessica Sleepless Mom Welcome sleepless moms! I haven’t had a full nights rest in over 2 years. Why, you ask? Because like you, juggling a toddler and a baby, working, and finding time for myself has left me sleepless, yet full of joy.

The inspiration for my blog came from tirelessly searching online for the answers new moms have, just to find out there is no right answer. My hope and vision is to create a community for moms to comment and share real life stories with one another when Google just isn’t cutting it. Whether you have specific questions or just want to comment and relate, this is your space to ask your fellow moms advice and know you’re not the only one that screws up from time to time.

I have assembled a well-rounded team that’s here to share their struggles and successes with you, as well as offer support in any way possible. This is an interactive site and we are here to cater to your mom needs. Please feel free to contact our team members with new topics you want us to tackle or even simple questions about motherhood. That’s what we are here for….
