Skin Pigmentation Changes – The Over The Counter Answer

Changes in skin pigmentation, or “facial spotting,” have two major culprits: sun damage and aging. Our skin cells are naturally full of proteins and collagen, which are what give skin its natural glow. They’re amazing, but they are also the first to get damaged from things like sun exposure and aging.

The Problem: Changes In Skin Pigmentation

When UV radiation from the sunlight hits your skin, its EXTREMELY damaging.

First off… Our skin cells make a pigment called melanin. If your body has too much melanin, your skin gets darker. The more exposure you have to sunlight, the more melanin your cells produce, leading to darker skin. Sometimes it’s what we want (that’s technically what getting a “tan” means). But it can also cause unwanted dark patchiness from all the damage to your cells

Sun exposure also causes oxidation. Oxidation is when there’s an increase in production of molecules called “free radicals” that get right into your skin cells and basically wreak havoc. They break down collagen, damage your DNA, and increase inflammation. All of this effects our natural skin turnover, so when our cells try to go through a “renewing” cycle and form new cells/new skin, they can’t. Essentially your cells are AGING faster than they need to be.

All of this all leads to blotchy pigmentation, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Aging is a natural process that also damages our skin. We actually have protective cells in the outer layer of our skin that fight off oxidation, but as we age, we don’t produce as many of these. So damaging factors like sun exposure are more difficult to fight off.

Changes in skin pigmentation, or “facial spotting,” have two major culprits: sun damage and aging.

The Solution For Skin Pigmentation Changes

So, for those who’ve experience pigmentation or color spots as a result of oxidation, I’m here to help!

Get to know Vitamin E oil.  It’s all natural, affordable (if you know how to find it), and will become your new best friend in the fight to reverse pigmentation.

Vitamin E is one of only 4 vitamins that can actually get absorbed right INTO our cell membrane. It works as an anti-oxidant by preventing oxidation and fighting off the free radicals that cause damage.

It helps produce new skin cells, and slough off the damaged skin cells that produced the previous pigmentation.

While there are a lot of great (and expensive) Vitamin E products on the market, there’s also a secret on how to find it conveniently and cheap…. instead of spending a fortune on brand name products, just go to your neighborhood pharmacy and buy Vitamin E Capsules.

Pop open one of the capsules, apply a small dab to a Q-tip, and massage gently into your face. It can be a little sticky, so it’s best to do to this at night before bed. Your face will get an amazing dose of natural Vitamin E. With consistent use you will notice the effects of pigmentation reversed and a much smoother, brighter complexion.

About Jessica

Jessica Sleepless Mom Welcome sleepless moms! I haven’t had a full nights rest in over 2 years. Why, you ask? Because like you, juggling a toddler and a baby, working, and finding time for myself has left me sleepless, yet full of joy.

The inspiration for my blog came from tirelessly searching online for the answers new moms have, just to find out there is no right answer. My hope and vision is to create a community for moms to comment and share real life stories with one another when Google just isn’t cutting it. Whether you have specific questions or just want to comment and relate, this is your space to ask your fellow moms advice and know you’re not the only one that screws up from time to time.

I have assembled a well-rounded team that’s here to share their struggles and successes with you, as well as offer support in any way possible. This is an interactive site and we are here to cater to your mom needs. Please feel free to contact our team members with new topics you want us to tackle or even simple questions about motherhood. That’s what we are here for….
