Just about every day my husband is up and out the door early for breakfast. He’s a hard working man and since I’m a hard working gal who likes a night off from cooking from time to time, we go out for our Valentine’s dinner.
SO I always make him a special breakfast! I’m sure most of you may know this as one of many names…Egg in a Basket…Toad in a Hole…Egg in a Nest…Holy Eggs, just to name a few.
But I like to put my little spin on it since it’s a special day! I use a heart cookie cutter which is super simple to use and changes up a common breakfast!
What you’ll need:
- Sliced Bread
- Spreadable butter
- Cookie Cutter
- Eggs
- Salt and Pepper
Start by getting your non-stick pan on your burner and the heat on—you want a nice warm skillet for your egg to cook evenly. Spread your butter on both sides of your bread—make sure to get all the way to the edges! Cut out your heart shape. Then gently place the bread in your skillet and then crack the egg into the center. I always crack some pepper and salt on this side of the egg.
Wait until you can see bubbles starting to form on the other side of the egg OR when your toast looks nicely done. Then carefully flip! I always check my toast to see if it looks done then I plate! My hubbs likes his eggs over-easy so if you want yours more done, give it a little longer.
No stress if your toast gets a little well done-it will still taste delicious! Oh—and don’t forget to toast the little heart you cut out from the center!
