My kids love Disney and they love animals, so they were super excited when I told them about the new National Geographic series Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This show takes you behind the scenes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT.
National Geographic’s Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom
I knew there were a lot of animals at the Disney parks, but I had no idea that they are caring for more than 300 species (5,000 plus animals)! In Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you get an up close look at many of the animals, including gorilla, giraffes, rhinos, hyenas, lions, tigers, sea turtles, rays, manatees, and more. You also get to meet the animal care experts who care for the parks’ magnificent array of animals.
In these days of learning at home, this is a great educational show your whole family will enjoy watching together. It’s narrated by Josh Gad – the Frozen fans at your house will recognize his voice immediately! We had fun learning about animals together and will definitely be watching all eight episodes over the next few weeks.
The Disney Conservation Fund
Caring for the animals on Disney properties is just one piece of the huge conservation efforts Disney is making. In 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund was established on Earth Day to help protect wildlife and wild places around the world.
Here are a few things the Disney Conservation Fund has accomplished since 1995:
- Supported projects spanning across six continents, all five oceans and more than half the countries (120) in the world.
- Awarded $100+ million in grants supporting efforts to save wildlife, inspire action, and protect the planet.
- Helped protect more than 1,000 species around the world, including elephants, cranes, butterflies, and coral reefs through its conservation grants.
- Helped protect more than 315M acres of habitat around the world.
The eight-episode, National Geographic series, Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is available now on Disney+. Check it out today!
