In the digital world we live in today, it’s hard to set boundaries for kids with technology. These days It seems like every kid has an iPhone or some sort of electronic device. It absolutely blows my mind to compare my childhood with the ones of today’s modern kid.
Let’s face it, it’s unavoidable, but it’s something us parents can manage and even use to our advantage.
Kids And Technology
I have tried absolutely everything to keep my baby from crying the entire time we are riding in the car. My saving grace was a portable car tv. I put on cartoons, and our car rides are instantly manageable. She is entertained the whole time and has made our traveling experience so much easier and quieter. 😉
TV can also be a great learning tool for kids. There are so many educational channels they actually enjoy watching. My one-year-old niece learned sign language from these programs, and it is the most amazing thing to see!
I am not saying you should stick your kid in front of the television all day. It’s all about balance. It’s important to set limits for tv and iPad time, and make sure family time is technology-free.
As parents, it’s up to us to control how much our kids are exposed to technology and how to help shape their minds with the tools available to us today.
