Daycare has been a big topic of discussion in our family lately. Some days I am all about it, and other days I can’t imagine not spending every minute of the day with my daughter.
I did what every mom does — I asked every mother around me if this is a good idea. Surprisingly, I got so many mixed opinions, it put me right back at square one.
Now what?! The answer is simple. Do what’s right for YOU and your family.
Is Daycare Right For Our Family?
I am a stay at home mom, so this was especially hard to wrap my head around. I obviously understand why the working moms put their children in someone else’s care, but why was I doing it?
Was it because I couldn’t handle 24 hours a day with my child? Would I miss out on these precious moments I could never get back? I’m telling you, I thought of everything.
Like everything else in life, you never know until you try. The worst that could happen is deciding it wasn’t for us and moving on.
After day one, I realized this wasn’t about my daughter not liking it, it was about me.
I was the one having trouble letting go.
As soon as I saw how much my daughter loved daycare, I had to give in. Seeing her socialize with other kids and learn new things was all I needed to see.
Let’s face it, I’m not as fun to play dress up with and I definitely don’t have the energy like they do!
She loves it so much she doesn’t want to leave when I pick her up. I love it because I know she is having fun and I can feel good about having free time.
